Wonder Woman: Review (No Spoilers)

The most anticipated movie of the summer came out on June 2nd. This is my take on Wonder Woman.

This is my first time seeing Wonder Woman on the big screen. I wish they would have done this sooner because it was an exciting adventure. It was a movie I immediately lost myself in. The atmosphere, the use of colors, the sounds, it all melded together smoothly. Also, the fact that there was a woman superhero was refreshing.

The action sequences were nice to watch in general, but I felt the slow motion used in the film was overused. It was great to see sometimes, especially early on, but I felt there were too many scenes with slow motion sequences. In addition to the action scenes, there was a lot of talking especially during the big fight. Less talking and more fighting would’ve been a good combination, especially for the villain featured in the film.

The acting was great! I thought Gal Gadot really shined in this and Chris Pine was phenomenal. He was certainly the comic relief and was incredible with his role. The only issue I had was the fact that there was a love interest in the movie. I understand why it was in there because it humanized Wonder Woman, but I think the movie would’ve been even better without it.

Overall, I was satisfied with the film. There was nothing that had my jaw dropping. There were a couple of good surprises mixed in, but there were a couple of things that I think held the film back from being great.

Grade: 7.5/10
